Hello my name is…..

“Wimzy? Winsey? Nancy? Lindy?”

So – it is difficult being a Lindsay in Egypt. My name is 100% brand new and 100% difficult for most people to pronounce. (I miss you Canada). I have become used to the frustration of repeating my name…….over and over….slower and slower….louder and LOUDER……until – I give up. “Sure, my name is Wimzy” :)

Anyways, the name situation has recently reached a critical point. Some days, I cannot get past the “Your name?” part of a delivery order on the phone. Other days, I forget my name is “Wimzy” or “Lindy” and fail to acknowledge important people (like my hall monitors or cleaning lady). Then there are the worst days, when I simply wish that I could have my real name back. And so – I have decided to compromise with the Egyptians for now. I have chosen to go with the more easily pronounced “Louise”, which has not one, not two, but THREE of the SAME letters that I have in my true name :) Even better – when abbreviated as “Lou”, it includes part of my nickname from home, “Lindsay Lou”. Which, additionally, is very similar to “Cindy Lou Who”……..an adorable Dr. Seuss character.

Did I tell you that I sent out a want ad for my optimism this week? I lost it temporarily. However, I am now 100% certain that it has returned :)
