There is someone very special to me who always says that you have to try new things because you never know what your hidden talents may be! (You know who you are – you already created a fantastic, new golfer!). So – I am trying TWO new things right now. Here they are:
New Thing Number One: Hip-hop. I started hip-hop last Thursday and last night we had our second session! For six more weeks, a group of 11 teachers (ALL GIRLS!) will attempt to master a hip-hop performance. Last week was………….interesting. This week, better :) It is neat to see how different people learn. Some of the girls picked up the moves very fast. And others (like me) took many tries to get it right! Our hip-hop teacher is Butcher (my trainer at the gym). Butcher has travelled around the world doing hip-hop performances…and so he expects a lot of us in-class. Every day at the gym this week he said to me “I hope you have been practicing the dance. You will have to perform it alone on Thursday. Dance everyday.” It is pretty hardcore for a recreational activity, but the drill-sergeant aspect makes it hilarious when I mess up the moves. He says that I need to “feel” the music. Hmmm………I never knew music was tangible!
New Thing Number Two: Scuba diving. YES! I started my open water diver certification on Wednesday night. The course is offered at the school and there are 4 other teachers who are taking it with me! At first, I wasn’t really sure whether it was something I would like. Diving seems so scary and exciting all at once. Scary because of the tanks and equipment you must wear. Scary because of the things that could eat you underwater. But, exciting because it is an opportunity you don’t get everyday. And exciting because it looks like Finding Nemo underwater (our instructor, Ahmed, showed us his own videos!). In the end, I thought of that special person…and it encouraged me to overcome my fear of diving and find the brave that took me to Egypt :) So…I have three more “classroom” sessions this week, plus a “pool” session and then….in October I believe…..we do the REAL thing! That is…if I keep the brave on :)
Thank you special person :) And cheers to trying new things!!!

You are brave beyond my belief. I am so proud of you! xo
You are quite an inspiration! Wilson and Sug are signing up for violin lessons as we speak. As for me...just wait...I'm going to find something soon too.
You go girl!
