Make a tea and enjoy :)
* Emily and Kelly are beginning a new adventure in Vietnam this fall. They will be teaching the luckiest kids in the world at a Canadian School in Hoshimin City! I will be returning to Egypt to work at a school that has become much less special. (due to the E and K departure).
* One day, you will be seeing Emily Abbott’s name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Last week she starred as “Ms. Whimzy” in the musical, Hairspray! She certainly taught lodge members a thing or two about commitment during the past four months! GREAT JOB, EM!
* The man who maintains our building, “the boab”, took off without notice last week! He is not coming back……and we really wish he was! The new boab is simply not as great, nor is his family as adorable.
* Insects R Us. Seriously. We have flies, ants, cockroaches and what-the-heck-is-that’s. Luckily, Emily is a fly samurai with the swatter and I have mastered the art of flushing resistant cockroaches down the toilet. Kelly is the ant man….they are the scariest.
* The Kraft Peanut Butter tally is down to 1.5….and the unopened jar is a baby one. YIKES! Can we make it last the remaining three weeks?!
* I am going on Safari in Kenya from June 26th until July 3rd. I can’t believe I am going to see elephants that are NOT placed somewhere on purpose (aka the ZOO!).
* ELK LODGE is on the same flight home to Canada! If you are in Toronto on the 4th of July, you may just get an autograph from the highly anticipated Wawa duo.
* Bananas have taken over the freezer. I predict an Elketeer bake-off someday soon!
* We have seemed to rotate “favourite spots” in the family room. Why? Not sure. But it’s really, really odd.
* We are 100% caught up on our television shows. Every finale has been watched – Grey’s Anatomy, American Idol, Brothers & Sisters, and One Tree Hill. Grey’s Anatomy was by far the most traumatizing, however One Tree Hill rated #1 for tear quantity. Poor Kelly – he deserves an award for surviving the drama of distraught female viewers.
* June 4th was Obama Day. We celebrated with an unexpected day off work and an afternoon at the pool. Thanks Barack :)
* There have been many quarrels over the air conditioner. Should it be on or should it be off? Should one be forced to wear a sweater or should one be forced to take off a sweater? Should it be a few degrees warmer or many degrees cooler? You know what I think: off/no sweater/much warmer. Let’s just say I’m outnumbered most days!
It is now 10 p.m. Kelly is doing schoolwork and Emily is making corn on the cob. I love them.
